This trip is best suited for
Advanced divers or above with experience in diving wrecks at depths of 60′-120′ ft deep. The wrecks visited are unique and interesting and inherently have more hazards. Most importantly, good buoyancy control is needed, surface signal tubes are required along with dive accident insurance and trip insurance is highly recommended!
The Atlantis resort travel service will pick us up at the Manila Airport and transport us by van and boat to Puerto Galera. The trip is about 3.5 hours long. We will stay at the Atlantis resort for 2 days before boarding the Atlantis Azores for our week long liveaboard trip.
We will spend the 2 days diving the UNESCO World Heritage site of Apo Reef exploring some of the finest coral reefs in Asia and 3 days in Coron Bay diving the wrecks. The wrecks are part of the historical Japanese fleet which was sunk by the American Navy during the Second World War. During our time in Coron we will explore world famous wrecks like the sea plane tender, Akitsushima, and the Irako. The coral growth and marine life on the wrecks is truly outstanding. After the wrecks we will travel back to Apo Reef for another day of diving.
We will start at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Apo Reef with a to see white tip sharks, spotted eagle rays, hawksbill turtles, bump head parrot fish and sea snakes. Apo Reef is the largest coral reef in the Philippines. The Reef and the vast expansive waters around are protected areas in the Philippines, administered as the Apo Reef Natural Park (ARNP). The National Park is located 33 kilometres (approximately) off the coast of Sablayan in the Occidental Mindoro province.
The wrecks we will be diving in the Coron area are all within recreational diving limits and offer much too see. Coron is well blessed with a wide range of dive sites to suit all tastes and levels of experience, from shallow reefs to advanced wreck diving. Coron Bay is also known as “the poor man’s Chuuk Lagoon”. While nothing can compare to Chuuk Lagoon, Coron Bay does have an excellent range of shipwrecks and is much easier to get too than Chuuk. The surrounding islands also offer some unique lake and cave dive opportunities as well.
The Atlantis Resort
Atlantis Puerto Galera is a beautiful dive resort built into the hills of Sabang Beach with its own beach. All meals are included and some drinks. The resort also has a dive shop, spa, pool and a climate controlled camera room.

There are 8 cabins for a total of 16 passengers and she has a crew of 6 so we are sure to be pampered. Seven of the cabins are deluxe staterooms with double and single bunk-style berths, ensuite lavatory, private head and shower. There is also an Eighth cabin (Owner’s suite) located on the upper deck and is larger with a desk, large picture windows and extensive storage space.
All meals are included with lots of snacks between dives. Drinks on board are complimentary and include beer, wine and local rum. Each evening there is a unique marine life presentations, slide show, or presentation on the next destination. The Azores features a partially covered sun deck, wet bar, hot tub and a large swim platform with warm freshwater showers. There is a spacious dive deck, three-tier camera table and charging station. Most dives are done from zodiac tender boats with a short ride to dives sites.
