Giant Stride Dive Boat

The Giant Stride Dive Boat Information

giant stride dive boatThe Giant Stride dive boat has been a favorite of Tech divers and photographers for years. Originally the GS was located in Marnia Del Rey but eventually made the move to San Pedro, where it is closer to lots more dive sites. Jim Simmerman, Owner, and captain of the GS  spent some time looking for the ideal boat before buying the GS. Jim has owned the GS for the past 16 years and has done many upgrades to it to better fit the needs of his customers.

At 42′ x 16′ in size and setup for only 6 divers it has LOTS of room to spread out.  The dive deck is very spacious with plenty of room to walk around without getting into anyone’s way and there is a large rear platform making entries and exits extremely easy, especially with the large custom ladder. The center of the dive deck has a large camera table with extra room below for spare tanks.

Further back is a large bed in the front V-berth and the head with plenty of room to change in if needed. Jim takes pride in the Giant Stride and it shows by how clean and neat he keeps it.

For tank fills, there is a 3500 PSI compressor and because it is smaller and louder the fills are done while the divers are out. Because of this, each diver must have 2 filled tanks before starting any trips. Nitrox is not available.

Jim and his crew take excellent care of their customers and will do their best to make sure you have an excellent day whether you are sightseeing, doing photography, hunting or just relaxing. CIDA has several trips aboard the Giant Stride going to the Oil Rigs, Palos Verdes, and some local wrecks. For all the CIDA Giant Stride trips please check out our Dive Calendar and book your trip now.

The Giant Stride is located in San Pedro but sometimes their pickup location for divers changes so before each trip, you will be notified of the exact time and place to meet.
